Curtis was born in Winnipeg,
Manitoba, where he first began playing drums at the age of ten. His studies
led him to the University of British Columbia, where he was awarded a Bachelor
of Music Degree in the field of Music Theory. Curtis is interested in exploring
the rhythmic and timbral elements of music, both of which tend to be overshadowed
in traditional music theory by harmonic concerns. The opportunity to combine
his long held love of drumming with his appreciation for motion and dance
has Curtis excited about being part of SWARM. When not "swarming"
Curtis can be found playing drumset with a number of Vancouver musicians,
notably, Jack Harlan, Mike Derrick and the jazz quartet Black Cavendish.
